Finally Resting at Home

But, Not out of choice… my body is worn out, and I am slightly delirious and sick.

The nasty-congested-sorethroat-sneezing-coughing-fatigue kind of sick. It figures, I never knew one could get a cold in the summertime, but I guess anything’s possible.

Which means I finally have the time to catch up on The Economist, upload recent pics, and update my blog.

Hmmmm…. recent happenings since my last post that are blog-worthy?

Well… As with everywhere else around the world, gas has reached an all-time high in Los Angeles (I recently paid $4.54/gal for regular). And, given that I commute 26-miles each way to work, I will be keeping it low-key for quite a while. No more long drives to Hollywood or West LA on the weekends for a night out on the town. Or for that matter, last-minute weekend trips to the Midwest/East Coast for “fun.” (”Fun”, in this case, does not include all those damn out-of-town weddings I have to attend.) Check out Gas Buddy to find the best deal at the pump near you.

I am hoping for change that will get us past this economic crisis, along with all of the other shi-at the Bush Administration has put this country through, and though I am disappointed with the way the Democratic primaries unraveled, I am excited that my man Obama became the presumptive nominee and made history by becoming the first black presidential nominee of a big American party. YES WE CAN!

What else? Oh! As with many other women the weekend of 5/31, I saw Sex & the City: The Movie. I drove down to San Diego to check it out with my gal pal J$ and then threw a fabulous party with my friend Krysti the following weekend. Though the movie depressed me as a single 30-something-year-old-female with a lot to offer, it was entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I give it a B-: many fashionable outfits (I did NOT dig the bird veil but I loved the Vivenne Westwood gown), some memorable convos between the gals, but it was too long and some of the storylines were just so-so (e.g., Jennifer Hudson’s role could’ve completely been cut out).

Summer plans?

Keepin’ it simple: Laying low, hiking/practicing yoga (going to a retreat in Ojai), starting the Construction phase on several work projects, chairing the AWBW Open House, and staying healthy.
