Lazy Day in the Valley & Other Randomness
Today, I feel extraordinarily lazy. I think the weddings and baby showers and events and overall craziness from the last few months have worn me out. And now laying in bed cuddling with my cat on this beautiful Sunday afternoon waiting for my Chinese food to arrive is so… relaxing.
I have my first Board meeting with A Window Between Worlds this week as well as the second book club meeting of the year (we’re discussing A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway… great read!), so I’m thankful for this time to myself before another busy week.
But today… I’m not worrying about work or birthdays or my things to do list or running errands or drama in my life.
I’m Just… Being.
And it’s so delightfully wonderful to be at home and enjoy my laziness.
Recently, I realized how much I like my place and where I live. My response to people’s look of dismay when I tell them I live in the SF Valley is no longer nodding in agreement and rolling my eyes. I actually LIKE it here.
I LIKE that Target, Home Depot, and Trader Joe’s are a 5-minute drive away. I LIKE that I have family members who are located within 4 miles of me. I LIKE reading on my patio listening to the sound of the stream under the huge trees that provide shade. I LIKE walking from my parking space to my front door and admiring the beautiful landscaping in between.
Yes, I miss the boutique shops in Santa Monica, living near the ocean, having lots of friends nearby, the fabulous restaurants on the West side, and I despise the extreme Valley heat and ridiculously long morning commute to work on the 101…
But it’s my home. And I LIKE, Oh-my-God, LIKE it.
Now, if I can just get motivated and start cleaning out my loft / home office…
Eh, whatever. I’ll save it for another, less lazy day.

you can always follow my philosophy about cleaning - don’t do it! =) i actually have to crack down on myself and start doing that. jay is going to KILL me soon. and katleya’s room (my old room in orland) is so neat. good lord, why do i have the non-cleaning genes in the family?
