So… after 1.5 years of suffering with clear bottom braces, my bottom teeth are now perfectly straight.

Because my orthodontist only pulled 1 tooth instead of 2, however, I don’t have the same amount of top and bottom teeth and my bite is slightly off. I had two options:

1. Since the bite “mis-alignment” is not visible to most unless I point it out, I could live with it and remove the bottom braces, - or -
2. I could get top braces put on and correct the bite. The braces would be removed in (hopefully) 3-5 months.

Since Doc is awesome and decided not to charge me extra… I thought why not go for the gold and proceeded with the latter option.

I got the top braces on Monday and already I’m thinking this was a mistake. My inside lips are all cut up, I talk with an even worse lisp (think SoCal Valley girl from the Midwest meets Daffy Duck), and I look like a kid (OK, I know I love it when others say I look younger than my age, but this is not the kind of look I was going for).

Thank God my Chronic Dry Eye problems are at a point where they’re treatable (Restasis may be expensive but it ROCKS!) and I don’t have to walk around with my glasses anymore. Otherwise, I’d feel like a prepubescent social reject.

And yes, I may have more major problems to deal with at the moment - but the trivial ones are more fun to blog about. I’m tired of feeling sad, angry, hurt, and confused. Why not go for self-pity over petty issues instead?
