Never a Dull Moment

The last month and a half has been busier than usual; here are some of the highlights:

  • My bro & sis flew to San Diego to meet our baby cousin Tristan & spend some family QT time with me, my dad, & cousins.

    • The Woodstock bachelorette party for Genevieve, Judilyn & Krysti took place in Vegas with about 35 girls in attendance. I helped coordinate the weekend activities with the other Maid of Honors, including: booking hotel rooms at the Wynn, spa time, pool time at the Cabana, a special dinner, a Scavenger Hunt, and… of course - a strip club outing… Check out the beautiful brochure-like itinerary created by Ms. Vicky:

    • I finally revived the La La land Book Club & we had a wonderful time discussing Khaled Hoisseini’s latest novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns. Hoisseini has an amazing talent for storytelling and making the situation in Afghanistan more tangible, in this novel from a woman’s perspective.
    • My 15-year-old godson & cousin recently lost a good friend in a tragic accident. I was able to reach out to him shortly afterwards when he came to LA with his family for a wedding.

    • I chaired the AWBW Open House event, where we featured an exhibit of masks created by teen survivors of domestic violence & displayed a powerful video interviewing some of these teens. Thanks again to all my friends who supported the event by attending, joining the Host Committee, or volunteering!

This past March marked my 5-year anniversary in Hell-A…. and, as I reach my 4-year anniversary with NBC Universal next month, I cannot believe that just 5 years ago I felt alone & depressed, struggling to meet new people, get more involved in the community, & find a full-time job.

Now, I cherish the rare moments to myself where I can take a deep breath & realize how much I’ve been blessed. I still have some personal battles to overcome, including learning to live life out loud, without sweating the small stuff

I am looking forward to October, after all of the weddings, when I can finally relax, reflect on the year’s adventures, & put together my 5-year financial & professional plan.
