The Pursuit

This weekend, I took the train down to San Diego with Momo, my new partner-in-crime who is also my companion to Aussie-land.

Though some complications on the train caused an hour delay in our arrival, we met some fellow Midwestern’ers & traveling Irishmen who were moving to SD after a 6-month stay in Australia! We missed our dinner reservations, but it was pretty cool drinking a shot or two of Raspberry Absolut with our train buddies.

Jen picked us up at the station & took us to her house, where my cousin Jun & some of Momo’s friends met up with us. We went to Aubergine in the Gas Lamp District… & had a few (?) drinks to start off our weekend right.

**Risk, this one’s for you! ;) **

I spent Saturday at my Tita Bellia’s housewarming party and got to see a bunch of relatives I hadn’t seen in awhile. We ate, watched The Filipino Channel (I got a kick out of Wowowee!), chismissed, & ate some more. I found out one of my cousins lives 2 minutes away from me… crazy! And I met some of the newer additions to the Mella clan. Even my SD gal pal J$ stopped by.

Saturday night was more lowkey… after the family party, my friends & I went to see The Pursuit of Happyness. What an inspirational, feel-good movie that humbled me.

“You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can’t do it. You want something? Go get it. Period.”

I know everything’s all relative, but wow… it made my so-called crappy year in ‘06 seem like paradise.

I woke up this morning to a gloomy, rainy day… After eating a vegan breakfast in Hillcrest (can’t believe my friends actually dug it!), I stayed at Jen’s to veg & geek out on the computer (Momo went to a 3-hour church sermon, God Bless Her, & Jen trekked out to Riverside to buy a car). This is the first time in awhile that I’ve relaxed, and even though I’m technically not at “home”, it’s the perfect day for QT with myself.

Got the 3-hour train ride home to do some planning for Australia w/Momo. Yippeeeeeee!
