Rockin’ it out on NYE
After 100+ e-mail threads (Mark Farina @ Deep vs. Doc Martin warehouse party vs. the infamous Giant party), countless phone conversations, & way too much indecisiveness from all involved, my night ended up being something like:
- 6:00 pm: Started getting ready with old school Chitown pals Lil Phil & Chereesca, who were staying at my pad.
- 7:30 pm: Picked Momo up on the West Side. (Yay, I have a new fabulous single gal pal to get crazy with!!)
- 8:30 pm: 20-person dinner at Michelia. Despite the situation at the end where half the party skipped out before the bill was sorted (can you believe that, sketchy, especially at this age!!!), the food was delish & we started the evening out well (thanks, Nerd!).
- 11 pm: Headed over to Chad’s on the West side to ring in the New Year with the crew. Definitely glad we stayed for the countdown.
- 1 am: Met up with the old Cham-bana gang at the Doc Martin Sublevel party downtown. Highlight of the night was dancing to classic house hit “Follow Me“.
- 3:30 am: Dropped Momo off. (She had to tail-gate at the Rose Parade early Monday morning, yikes!)
- 4 am: Arrived at home with LP & C. Watched TV & chatted until we fell asleep.
Next year, I will probably return to being more lowkey & spend the evening with a bunch of close friends rather than a big party with strangers. Wow, def a sign of my age. *sigh*
For me, the memorable parts of the NYE weekend were spent with my house guests & went something like:
The Frasier incident; walking around the complex drunk; watching Dick in a Box & singing the damn song over and over again; an interesting conversation about Brazilian waxes; watching the South Park Greatest Hits episodes; a quick run to Del Taco & Ralph’s across the street to cure hangovers from Maker’s Mark shots the night before.
And… the best part about New Year’s ‘06/’07: experiencing, once again, those moments where you can talk & cry freely about anything & everything to your friends, without fear of judgement.
