Another Crazy Year
Each year my birthday evolves into something entirely different than the year before.
- 2002 - My first birthday in Hell-A. My boyfriend at the time threw me my first surprise party & my brother shocked me by flying out from Chicago to help celebrate. Very thoughtful of both of them.
- 2003 - Same boyfriend sent the most beautiful birthday bouquet to work. Strange, but I don’t remember much else from that year. I imagine it was pretty lowkey.
- 2004 - I met up w/some Chitown pals in Vegas. We cleared out the minibar at the Paris hotel AND didn’t sleep for most of the weekend. A normal weekend in Vegas for many, but it was a special treat to celebrate with 2 close friends.
- 2005 - Well, I’ll let the pics from last year speak for themselves. For me, it marked the first birthday I truly felt at home in L.A.
This year I kinda dreaded it, with all the sadness going on - from a bad breakup to the loss of some friends & the other usual “drama”.
A few months ago, I called Gen & invited myself out to NYC since her birthday is 3 days after mine. I had no intention of staying here & even convinced Ray to join us.
Friday night, we ate at a wonderful steakhouse (well, so I hear - I got to enjoy an enormous lobster) & headed over to the Bunker to meet up w/Julie & Susan.
I was so hungover on Saturday that I barely made it to Vera Wang for our bridesmaid dress shopping appointment. I think Gen & Jeremy were finally able to wake me up by putting ice down my shirt. (Thanks guys!)
Jeremy then surprised us with a spa day at the Peninsula hotel. One of the sweetest things anyone’s ever done for me. Gen is one lucky gal!! I’m honored to be part of their special day next September.
We ended the night at some cheesy 18+ over club… but it turned out to be a blast since we were in good company. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday celebration, & I thank Gen, Jeremy, Ray & B.B.B. for taking such good care of me.
The partying didn’t end there… This past weekend my thoughtful BBF organized a small birthday gathering at the Air Conditioned Supper Club in Venice. I remember falling down at one point in the evening, & someone commented I lost my balance because I was without a cosmo in my hand. I think I drank ~10 cosmos that night, so my friend may be right!
What was really special about my Hell-A birthday was that 2 friends planned trips from Miami & Chicago to be here. *I love you both*
So, another crazy year has flown on by… *sigh*
And after thinking of all the wonderful people I have in my life, I have to say, despite all the drama, I am one lucky gal.

I wanted to say that it was a pleasure to have you in town for your birthday. It allowed me to give Genevieve the best possible gift, time with her friends. To know that you mean so much to Genevieve, to see the happiness and just plain old fun you guys have together, rendering time and distance obsolete, means the world to me. You are always welcome in our home, wherever that may be. Babay Bahpy Bear wants you to come back, as he misses his girlfriend. From the East Coast with love, J

Merry holidays to you! I’m headed south in April, so let’s be sure to catch up then, if not before!

OK, how incredibly lame are we. People travelled from all over the country to celebrate your birthday and we were too impatient to wait for the line to clear!! WTF to us! So sorry we missed such a great time and hope that you still love us…Hey, at least we were in last year’s pictures. Look forward to seeing you soon.
XOXO, Brien & Toni.
