Is it seriously December?
Jeez, where did the time go? I remember when I began my post-college career at a start-up in Chitown, I was the youngest employee there at 21. My colleague’s wife gave me one of those sly glances after finding out my age and remarked, ‘Mark my words: you’re going to blink. And then you’re 30.‘
Well, thankfully, I’m not quite there yet, but time’s a ticking. And I can’t believe how fast this year went by.
My Thanksgiving weekend vacation was too short but very relaxing. Though I spent much of it in bed sick, it was so wonderful not caring about my TTD list, work, or other obligations.
Staying in bed, however, meant me watching too much of the tube. What a basketcase I was. I mean, why did I choose to see a movie about an unappreciative alcoholic woman who had an amazingly devoted husband?
“When he tried to help I told him that he made me feel small and worthless. But nobody makes us feel that, we do that for ourselves. I shut him out because I knew if he ever really saw who I was inside, that he wouldn’t love me. And we’re separated now…”
–Alice Green, Meg Ryan’s character
As if watching one sappy movie wasn’t bad enough, I decided to watch a romantic comedy about an older woman who dates a younger man, resulting in a passionate relationship that just wasn’t meant to be. Some “comedy.”
“Sometimes love just isn’t enough. You live, you love, you learn, you grow. And sometimes it just doesn’t work out. And that’s OK.”
–Lisa Metzger, Meryl Streep’s character
Those of you who know me well will understand how those lines spoke to me.
The rest of you will think I’m downright crazy… And after using 2 boxes of Kleenex watching these movies, I can’t say I disagree with you.
Ok ok, I admit it, it was nice to lay in bed with Tigger and have a few hours of sappy girly moments.
‘Twas the calm before the storm…
This week wasn’t as relaxing. Had lots to do before my short weekend getaway to NYC, at work and at home.
Winning a framed autographed poster of the American Idol judges & host was pretty cool, but the highlight of my week was meeting the Man of Steel himself at a CAPE event. For lack of better words, Holy Hotness.
Remember my fascination with him right after I watched Superman Returns? (I’m not taken anymore, Brandon!) If only…
Gotta finish up my personal shiat before tomorrow’s eaaaaaaaaarly morning flight… I’m outtie, ready to rock NYC Chitown style.
And enjoy the rest of the year before the big “O”!! (That’s 3-O *shudders*)

[…] I joined the GE Asian Pacific American Forum as a Social Event Committee Co-Chair. It’s been pretty fun meeting new people & networking… plus I got to meet Superman hunk Brandon Routh at an event we sponsored. […]
