Gasoline vs… Vegetable Oil?

I read a post on my colleague’s blog about converting her adorable pink Benz to run on… Vegetable Oil?

Whoa.  Wonder how many MPG’s her Benz gets?

On another note, hope all you Californians vote in today’s primary elections.

  1. BDPedia Says:

Vegetable oils can be used as straight vegetable oils (SVO) that is straight from the plant without any processing, or as biodiesel ( which is a processed form of vegetable oil). Biodiesel does not require any changes to your existing diesel engine, while SVO requires some changes to be done to your engine before you can run your car on SVO

And it is not just vegetable oils…efforts are on to produce biodiesel from algal oil, that is oil from algae ( see http://www.oilgae.com ) …biodiesel appears to be an interesting area with exciting developments everyday
