Back to Detox
Now that braces are making it harder for me to eat, the energy soup G. & I consumed daily on the 21-Day Detox Diet actually seems appetizing. *Wait, did I really just say that?*
Since I’ve become Brace Face, it always feels like there’s something stuck in my teeth. Random bits of food fly out of my mouth every now & again, but I’ve been told that’s to be expected. Yuck.
To illustrate how painful eating with these damn things are - enough to make the soup appetizing - I present to you the Energy Soup recipe:
Energy Soup
Apple, cucumber, or papaya (1 cup)
Avocado (1/2)
Spinach or sunflower greens (1 cup)
Carrot or root vegetable (1)
Dulse seaweed (1 tsp.)
Purified water (1-2 cups depending on the consistency you prefer)
Place all ingredients in blender and liquefy. To add flavor, experiment with lemon or lime, garlic, fresh herbs, hot peppers, sea salt, miso or Braggs.

Believe it or not, we lived off this soup for over 2 weeks (the first week consisted of cooked vegan organic meals). During the diet, we felt more energized and healthy than ever - enough to run, bike & attend our yoga/martial arts classes regularly.
Right after the diet, we worked on cooking at home and eating healthy. That lasted for about a month. Now we’re back to our old habits (well, mostly) and G. & I feel unhealthy again.
Health reasons combined with my newfound difficulties eating “normal” food have made us decide to go back on the diet again soon. It’s been almost 4 months since we survived our first detox, so now’s as good a time as any for Round 2. Hmmm, maybe we’ll have to wait until after the Chi-town visits are over, but definitely sometime next month.
My inspiration for getting there: “If you eat living food, the same will quicken you, but if you kill your food, the dead food will kill you also.”
