If I Die…

I’m going camping with the guys this weekend for Juanito’s 30th birthday. After making my own version of the Camping Checklist, I decided to do some research on the infamous Paradise trail before I hike it.

“The goal of the hike is to reach an unnamed, unfrequented, unspoiled, unpopulated pristine stretch of beach we locals call Paradise… this is… an incredible hike, and an amazing place to spend a weekend.”

So far so good.

“It is a little more difficult now that the road is closed, because the hike up the road adds 5 miles to your total. I have friends that cross private property and hike in and back on the jeep trail, but I prefer the ridge and bluffs. It is some of the most amazing coastline in the world, and you should have it all to yourself.”

Hmmm… so G. mentioned the trespassing part as I was reading this over. I’m not thrilled about it, but I figure I could get around that somehow.

Moving right along.

“Be careful if you’re there during dawn and dusk because there IS a mountain lion there (named Fred) and a few of my coworkers have witnessed him stalking hikers who had no idea he was even there.”

Wait, WHAT?!?

Paradise isn’t looking so hot.

Um, yeah. I’m a little nervous (OK, A LOT!), but G. is insistent.

If I end up going, and you don’t hear from me, you’ll know what happened. I’m just hoping that my skinny @$$ won’t be meaty enough for Freddy’s taste buds.

If I do die, I leave everything to L&J, 50/50! I love you all!

Have fun, Jamie. Don’t worry, I have the faith in you. I know you will survive and come back with stories about your wonderful adventure. Try & stay warm. That would be my biggest concern. :P
