Why is it that when it comes to men, intelligent women are an oxy-moron?

Of course, I’m not referring to my present situation when I say this. (I love you, G!)

But, I’ve been blind-sighted in past relationships… and I’ve observed many other strong, successful, smart female friends choose men who are not worthy of their love.

And it’s obvious to everyone but themselves.

One friend was in a relationship for a year, only to have the “love of her life” get engaged to another woman a few days after their breakup.

Another friend was on and off with another “winner” for over four years. He was unemployed, had a substance abuse problem, and hit on her friends in front of her.

Yet another friend decides to support her unemployed boyfriend by allowing him to move in with her. He ends up being physically abusive and after the second incident kicks him out.

The list goes on and on…

I have spent countless hours consoling otherwise stable girlfriends who have been played the fool. I have spent even more time trying to convince them beforehand to leave the jerk and move on.

It’s as if all women are built to prefer @$$holes, regardless of their intelligence.

I guess that’s one more thing to add to my Thanksgiving list: I’m thankful to have an amazing, patient, compassionate man in my life who makes me very happy.

To all my girlfriends: wise up… never settle for less than what you deserve.

Either that, or just give up now and become a lesbian. You’d have a better chance.
